Funding

PCF provides general operating, project and capital support through annual and multi-year grants, including capacity-building grants to improve a recipient’s organizational or fundraising capabilities. Recognizing the unique freedom of private foundations to pursue “big bets,” a portion of the Foundation’s resources may be available for especially compelling, early stage initiatives. In some instances, PCF may complement its traditional grant-making with program related investments (“PRI’s” or “impact investing”), allowing the Foundation to recycle capital while providing recipients with below market financing terms. When appropriate, PCF will leverage its investments through the use of challenge grants.  PCF also welcomes opportunities to join with other leading philanthropies in areas of mutual interest.
